DIY Diet Coke Bottle Patio Tiki Torches Tutorial
Demonic mosquitoes an issue in your neck of the woods this year too? Take matters into your own hands when you make these trendy and unique DIY Diet Coke Bottle Patio Tiki Torches. Colorful, economical, and a great upcycle project, this simple DIY will help you keep those mosquitoes away, and they’ll serve as a great conversation starter at your next outdoor gathering.
It doesn’t really take much time, or a whole lot of supplies, to make these DIY Diet Coke Bottle Patio Tiki Torches, and in the end, they cost way less than store bought, plus they’re so much more fun. I love a good (simple) DIY project, and when it’s a great conversation piece, that makes it even better! All you need to fight the demons this year (seriously, y’all, we live in Texas, the mosquitoes are the devil’s spawn here) is a few fun Diet Coke bottles (the new “It’s Mine” line is great because no two are alike), some Tiki wicks and fuel, and some plumbing supplies you can pick up at Home Depot. I could have put these together in about 30 (or 60) minutes myself, but why bother? My husband is a pipefitter after all, so this is kind of his bag on a small scale. With that in mind, I did what any good wife would do, and “let” him put them together in about 10 minutes. Winning. Even if you don’t have a pipefitter in your life, these are really pretty simple to put together.
Carefully (with safety glasses!) drill a hole in the threaded pipe caps large enough to fit the screw from the clamp through.
That’s definitely the most difficult part of this upcycle, but with a good drill bit, it’s no big deal at all.
Thread the screw through the hole in the pipe cap.
Attach the clamp.
Assemble the base by tightly screwing the threaded nipple into the floor flange. Then screw the pipe cap with the clamp onto the threaded nipple.
Drink the Diet Coke deliciousness (don’t let anyone else help you with that step), rinse and dry the bottle thoroughly, then carefully clamp the bottle to your base.
Using a funnel, pour the Tiki Torch fuel into your Coca-Cola Bottle.
Thread the wick through a washer that’s the same diameter as the top of the Diet Coke bottle and lower it into the bottle opening.
Fasten your new tiki torches around your porch area securely and away from ceilings, light, and enjoy a mosquito-free outdoor space all summer long. And although you can use any bottles for this project, you’ll really want to run out to grab a four-pack of the “It’s Mine” Diet Coke Bottles that I snagged at Target. The colors are vibrant and fun, and since each and every bottle is unique, you’ll know that your new backyard decor is like no one else’s on the block!
I’m totally digging my new DIY Diet Coke Patio Tiki Torch Lamps and I can’t wait to spend a summer of fun in my backyard. What DIY project do you think you could incorporate these Coca-Cola bottles into this spring or summer? These bottles (they come in cans too!) are only available for a limited time, while supplies last, and feature the same great taste of Diet Coke that Diet Coke fans love! I’ve bought a bunch so I’d love to hear your ideas and try them out!
